LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A runoff election for the Democratic nomination for a seat in the Arkansas House of Representatives ended unofficially in a tie Tuesday night.
According to unofficial results, Ryan Davis and Joy Springer each received 372 votes in Tuesday’s runoff election. However, Pulaski County election officials said five overseas military ballots are still outstanding, and two provisional ballots could be counted if deemed valid.
Davis and Springer are seeking their party’s nomination for a Little Rock seat that had been held by Democratic Rep. John Walker, who died in October. Davis and Springer had advanced to the runoff after a primary election last month.

Pulaski County Election Commissioner Joshua Price told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that the commission will meet Thursday to decide what to do if the race remains tied after the results are certified.
“There has never been a tie in a runoff before,” Price said.
The winner of the primary will face independent candidate Roderick Talley in the March 3 special election to serve the remainder of Walker’s term. No Republicans filed to run for the seat. The special election coincides with Arkansas’ presidential and state primary election.
