The rain came down fast and heavy.
Getting the tarp placed on the infield at Nationals Park? That took a while.
The Washington Nationals’ grounds crew struggled to unroll the tarp during Sunday’s game between the Nationals and the Baltimore Orioles — prompting all sorts of jokes on social media.
The crew took more than 20 minutes to get the tarp over the infield, which at that point was soaked due to the heavy rain.
Jokes were made:

Never seen anything like the tarp attempt in O’s-Nats. “By now we’ve usually gone to alternate programming for seven or eight minutes, but, I mean, you folks deserve to see this.” After 14 minutes they finally cut away! pic.twitter.com/zDBWrnEhiT

The funniest thing in @mlb that you’ll see today, is watching the @nationals grounds crew try to unfuck the tarp. pic.twitter.com/wL4CXDOFdQ

The Nationals were trailing 5-2 in the sixth, but that might not be the worst performance of the game.
