PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island’s attorney general says the state is getting $5.4 million as part of a nationwide settlement with a British company that once distributed an opioid addiction treatment.
Attorney General Peter Neronha announced Monday that the money settles allegations that Reckitt Benckiser either directly or through a subsidiary, improperly marketed and promoted Suboxone, resulting in improper expenditures of state Medicaid funds.
He says almost $3 million of the settlement will be returned to the state’s Executive Office of Health and Human Services, and $2.4 million will be returned to the federal government.
