Every team in Washington is known for some shade of red. The Redskins are famously burgundy and gold, the Capitals tell their fans to “rock the red,” the Wizards use it as a secondary color, and the Mystics and Nationals generally wear a red-based uniform.
But in the 2019 Major League Baseball playoffs, the Nationals seem to have found a good-luck charm in their alternate uniforms.
When the Nationals rock navy blue jerseys, they’re 9-0 this postseason, through the first two games of the World Series.
Fans were thrilled to find out that they would wear the navy blues for Game 1 of the World Series Tuesday.
Will the @nationals be rocking their navy blue jerseys in Game 1? 🤔

.@Nationals indeed sporting their navy blue uniforms tonight. They are 7-0 this postseason when wearing them. To quote the great Michael Scott and Davey Martinez: “I’m not superstitious. I’m just a little stitious.”

And they were right to be excited. Washington did the improbable and beat Houston’s ace pitcher Gerrit Cole on the way to a 5-4 Game 1 win.
They followed that up by blasting the Astros 12-3 in Game 2, taking both games on their opponent’s diamond as the series heads to the District.
There’s no telling if Washington will continue to wear navy blue once they’re home, though; their home uniform is white with red lettering.
