Monday marked officially one year since Redskins quarterback Alex Smith shattered his leg in a loss to the Houston Texans. The injury required 17 surgeries and left many wondering if Smith would be able to walk, let alone play professional football again.

But in a post on Instagram, Smith’s wife uploaded a video that shows how much progress the 35-year-old has made in the last year.

Set to Andra Day’s “Rise Up,” the clip shows images of Smith in the hospital to video of the quarterback running at the Redskins’ facility in Ashburn:

After Smith’s injury, the Redskins collapsed, going from 6-3 to 7-9. As a whole, they are just 2-15 since the injury.

Smith still hasn’t addressed a group of reporters, but has given select interviews over the past few months in which he has stated his desire to play football. In a recent interview with the Redskins’ Larry Michael, the quarterback said he has progressed to point in which he is now able to work on football drills, such as drop backs.
