RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a man who died in a canal in central Wyoming.

Riverton police called to the canal on Friday evening found two men who appeared to be trapped against a safety gate. Officers formed a “human chain” and were able to rescue a 56-year-old Riverton man. The other man, 63-year-old Benjamin Ridgley, was dead.

Investigators say the men slid into the canal about 300 feet (91 meters) from where they were trapped.



No other information was released.
