HOPEWELL, N.J. (AP) - A driver who ran a red light and killed an elderly couple on their way home from a dinner date in southern New Jersey has pleaded guilty to two counts of vehicular homicide.
Cumberland County prosecutors will recommend that Charles Hunter receive concurrent seven-year sentences when he’s sentenced July 12. The 49-year-old Bridgeton man entered his plea Tuesday.
The February 2018 crash occurred in the area of State Highway 49 and West Park Drive in Hopewell Township.

Authorities say 81-year-old Henry Mazzoni was trying to make a left turn when Hunter ran a red light in his minivan and hit Mazzoni’s car on the passenger side. Mazzoni and his passenger, 82-year-old Lois Morgan, were taken to hospitals but each died a short time later.
Hunter wasn’t hurt in the crash.
