SUNNYSIDE, Wash. (AP) - A Grandview man is being held on $1 million bail after authorities say he shot a man outside a Sunnyside area home.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports that a judge ordered 21-year-old Jesse Leonel Lopez-Avalos held on suspicion of first-degree murder and unlawful firearms possession.

Yakima County sheriff’s deputies were called at around 12:40 a.m. Thursday about a man shot. They found a 21-year-old Sunnyside man dead in the front passenger seat of a car.

Deputies said the victim, whose identity is not being released, had gunshot wounds to the head and neck.

Court records say the victim and Lopez-Alvalos met to discuss the sale of a vehicle. Witnesses say Lopez-Avalos later fired shots in the air before shooting at the victim’s car, hitting the man.

Grandview police located Lopez-Avalos’ truck and stopped him as he tried to drive away.
