MAYVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - Police have charged a western New York man with murder and manslaughter in connection with the 2014 death of a 16-month-old girl.
The Post-Journal of Jamestown reports 35-year-old Tyler Perez pleaded not guilty to the charges during his arraignment Monday.
He is being held on $500,000 cash bail.

Authorities say Perez was the boyfriend of young Nayla Hodnett’s mother.
The woman brought Nayla to a Jamestown hospital in April 2014, and she was transported to a hospital in Buffalo where she died from her injuries.
It is unclear how the child was injured.
The public defender for Perez says his client has maintained his innocence since the beginning.
