ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith received backlash last season for mentioning Hunter Henry in a preview of a Chargers-Chiefs game — despite the fact that the Chargers tight end had been out the whole year with a torn ACL.
His latest gaffe isn’t much better.
Smith mistakenly said Tress Way — the Redskins’ punter — was one of five quarterbacks to start a game for Washington last season.
“If you look at the Redskins last year, they had five different quarterbacks,” Smith said. “They had Alex Smith, Josh Johnson, Colt McCoy. They even got Mr. Butt Fumble himself — Mark Sanchez, OK. And some guy named Tress Way actually started one game.”
Punter Tress Way started at QB last year for the @Redskins ???

That is incorrect. While Way did attempt a pass last season, he certainly did not start at quarterback.
This man @stephenasmith at it again saying Tress Way started a game at QB for the Skins 😂 C’monnnn man. If you’d dig a little deeper than the boxscore, you’d see Tress Way is a damn Punter pic.twitter.com/6YM5GVxNRa
