OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A woman has been charged with negligent abuse for the death of her 6-month-old daughter in Omaha.
Douglas County Court records say 21-year-old Carmaleta Price is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on July 26. The records don’t list the name of an attorney who could comment for her.
A court document says Price told investigators that she had fallen into a drunken sleep Monday with her daughter on an air mattress. The document says another family member found the baby had rolled off the mattress and was dead, a plastic bag of clothes atop her. A prosecutor says it appears the baby suffocated.
