Girl, 15, found dead near West Virginia playground

CEREDO, W.Va. (AP) - Police say a 15-year-old girl has been found dead near a West Virginia playground.

The Herald-Dispatch reports the Ceredo Police Department found the body early Tuesday.

Police Chief Tony Poston says there were no abnormal markings on the girl’s body and that it doesn’t appear that she was attacked. He says the cause of death is unknown and is under investigation.

The girl’s body was taken to the state medical examiner. Authorities did not immediately release her name. The police chief says the girl’s family has only lived in the area for about a month.

The Ceredo Town Council has said the playground isn’t used that often. They are considering whether to replace it with a dog park.
