The New Orleans Pelicans are showing “sincere interest” in trading for Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal, NBC Sports Washington’s Ben Standig reported Monday.
Beal is a two-time All-Star and is the only healthy starter on the Wizards. He averaged 25 points, five rebounds and five assists a game over the last season.
With John Wall out for another year with a torn Achilles, Beal is likely to be the only bright spot in what could be a long and miserable 2019-20 season for the Wizards.
With that possibility looming, many around the league see trading Beal now as the Wizards best move long term, but the team has consistently shot down that talk.
The Pelicans’ interest in Beal never materialized into “actual negotiations,” according to Standig.
