Do the two best teams in the NFL both play in the NFC East? The “Madden NFL 20” ratings staff thinks so.

When the game is released on Aug. 2, the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys will be the best-rated teams to play as, with overall ratings of 89 and 88, respectively (on a scale of 1-99).

The Washington Redskins, meanwhile, clock in with an 83 — a distant third to their despised division rivals, but still surprisingly higher than teams like the Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks (both 81), who both made the playoffs last year.

The Cowboys and Eagles both advanced to the divisional round of the playoffs last year, and Philadelphia is only a year and a half removed from a Lombardi Trophy. But it was a surprise to some that they were rated ahead of the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots (87), the runners-up Los Angeles Rams (85) and Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs (84).
