The Democrats have entered into a new moral darkness in their driving Labor Secretary Alex Acosta out of office for the plea deal he was able to get 12 years ago against a person connected to leading Democrats, including the Clintons (“Acosta resigns as Labor secretary, cites scrutiny over Epstein case,” Web, July 12). They have also placed themselves in a very difficult and dangerous situation: They must now be judged by their own moral requirements for Mr. Acosta.
Therefore Hillary Clinton must be investigated, especially in light of the thousands of emails discovered recently to be in government hands and not reviewed in previous investigations. The Democrats called for her investigation to end and for the country to move on. Well, with their moral outrage over Mr. Acosta’s 12-year-old ruling, we now must return to a thorough investigation of the Clintons.
If any of the Maryland congressmen or senators who called for Mr. Acosta to resign is involved in any illegal actions (or their families are involved), they must by their own moral measure insist for the fullest sentence under the law.
We now have many popular Hollywood actors, singers and producers accused of crimes, sexual and other. In the future Democrats must be heard asking for the harshest sentence for these people, their friends — and they must be heard crying out in horror if a deal is made for them.
