With Lamar Jackson set to be starter and Joe Flacco likely moving on, the Baltimore Ravens will need a backup quarterback next season. Does that make Robert Griffin III’s return more likely?

Griffin will be a free agent this offseason, but he told reporters he would “love” to be Jackson’s backup in 2019.

“I’d love to be back,” Griffinsaid, Pro Football Talk reported. “I feel like I have a good grasp of what this team is trying to do. I’d love to help Lamar continue to develop and also be available and ready to play. The question is, is that going to happen? I don’t know. Are there going to be other opportunities for me around the league? I don’t know. We’ll see what happens but I’d love to be back.”

Out of football for all of 2017, Griffin signed with the Ravens last offseason, winning a roster spot but spending most of the year inactive. But the Ravens valued Griffin’s mentoring of Jackson and the quarterback did appear in three games.
