PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo and former U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy will discuss the mental health needs of college students at an inaugural summit on the topic.

The RI Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner says that more than 150 leaders from state government, public and private colleges and mental health organizations will meet on Monday in Providence.

The inaugural summit aims to build a coalition of partners to help optimize and coordinate mental health services across Rhode Island’s colleges.

Raimondo plans to give welcoming remarks.

Kennedy, a former Rhode Island congressman, and his wife Amy are scheduled to give closing remarks. They are advocates for a stronger mental health care system.

Panels will focus on student mental health needs, common institutional challenges and effective practices on Rhode Island campuses.
