GAFFNEY, S.C. (AP) - Officials have identified a South Carolina couple found shot to death inside their home.

Cherokee County Sheriff Steve Mueller says deputies responded to a home in Gaffney around 5 p.m. Thursday to conduct a welfare check after another family member reported seeing items at the home in disarray.

Coroner Dennis Fowler said in a news release that 71-year-old Ronald D. Gallman and 68-year-old Linda C. Gallman were found dead in the home from gunshot wounds. Fowler said it appears they died late Wednesday.

Fowler said autopsies are planned to determine how they died.

Mueller says the investigation is ongoing.
