GARDNERVILLE, Nev. (AP) - Douglas County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a second homicide in Gardnerville that they think may be related to another last week just a mile away (1.6 kilometer).
The second victim killed in her home on Dresslerville Road Sunday night or early Monday has been identified as 74-year-old Sophia Renken.
Undersheriff Ron Elges said Monday investigators believe there’s a strong possibility the same suspect committed both crimes. He cites similarities in the way the suspect entered the homes, the age and gender of the victims and the fact they both lived alone, near each other in the Gardnerville Ranchos.

Elges says 56-year-old Connie Koontz was killed late Wednesday or early Thursday at a home on James Road. They’re withholding other details because it’s an ongoing investigation.
He’s urging residents to look their doors and windows and report any suspicious activity.
