HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - A jury took about an hour to find a man guilty of first-degree murder in a shooting during a robbery attempt at a Mississippi home.

News outlets report the jurors in Forrest County Circuit Court had a short discussion before finding 23-year-old Aaron Jones guilty Wednesday. The trial started that morning, and Jones was sentenced to life in prison.

Assistant District Attorney DeCarlo Hood says Jones is one of four men charged in the 2016 killing of 64-year-old Frank Jenkins at his house in Hattiesburg.

Jones’ co-defendants Virgil Luckett and Carlos Sibley testified that he was the shooter. Both took a deal and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. They await sentencing. David Jones will go to trial in March.

Jenkins’ sister Alfreda Tillman-Bester says the family feels justice was done.
