The Nationals suffered six losses in their last 10 games, but they’re still hovering around the top 10 in some of the latest power rankings.
USA Today and ESPN both rank the Nationals at No. 10. Sporting News lifted the Nationals to No. 9 and CBS Sports dropped Washington to No. 11.
CBS Sports placed the Nationals under the “’Get hot at the right time’” umbrella as the MLB schedule nears the postseason.
Any success for Washington will likely come from starting pitchers Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg and Patrick Corbin, but Scherzer is still on the injured list with a back strain.
Strasburg’s seven-game win streak ended in an 18-7 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks Saturday. Strasburg has a 3.72 ERA this season, but a 13.97 ERA against the Diamondbacks.
Ironically, the right-hander was also named National League pitcher of the month on the same day for his 1.14 ERA in July.
Stephen Strasburg has been named @MLB’s NL Pitcher of the Month.

The Nationals are 2-2 in their last four road games. They’ll be back in D.C. on Aug. 12 against the Cincinnati Reds, after they finish against the San Francisco Giants and the New York Mets.
