PHOENIX (AP) - Chandler police say a woman was arrested on suspicion of child abuse after a passerby spotted her baby inside a hot car outside a store.

Police said a fire department dispatcher told the passerby to break a window of the car and that the child had high blood pressure but appeared to be OK.

According to police, the outside temperature when the incident occurred Tuesday was 112 degrees (44.4 Celsius).

Police said Holly Broadbent Platt of Chandler was arrested after she returned to the car and told police she was distracted by her three other children and did not mean to leave the baby in the car.

The children were turned over to their father.

Court records don’t list an attorney for Platt who could comment on the accusation.
