NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - A man who recruited and bribed postal workers in a scheme to steal credit cards from the mail has pleaded guilty to several charges.
Federal prosecutors say Moussa Dagno pleaded guilty Monday to bribery, bank fraud and aggravated identity theft. The 24-year-old Harrison man faces up to 47 years in prison when he’s sentenced July 17.
Authorities say Dagno recruited several letter carriers and other postal workers to steal credit cards from the mail in exchange for bribes of $100 per stolen card. After Dagno activated the cards under false pretenses, he and others would use the cards to buy high-end electronics and clothing at stores throughout New Jersey.
Several of the postal workers who took bribes from Dagno and others have pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing.
