FERRIDAY, La. (AP) - Two Louisiana sheriff’s deputies were not going to let some lounging alligators have it their way.

Concordia Parish sheriff’s deputy Walter Mackel tells the Natchez Democrat that he and patrol partner, Jonathan Carroll, wrangled two gators during their weekend shift.

One 5-footer (1.5 meters) was on a home’s doorstop outside Ferriday. Another, three- or four-feet long (1.21 meters), was lounging in the parking lot of the Concordia Parish Recreational Center soccer fields.

Concordia Parish is by the Mississippi River, where high water could be pushing alligators out of their habitat.

Mackel says it was the first time he has been on gator duty. He says it was like going to Burger King and getting “two extra onion rings with your order of fries … like a bonus for the job.”
