WILKESBORO, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say a man being sought in connection with a kidnapping has turned himself in.

The Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office tells news outlets 37-year-old Rosalino Duarte-Cruz of Wilkesboro is charged with second-degree kidnapping, simple assault and a domestic violence order. According to the sheriff’s office, Duarte-Cruz turned himself in Friday, and he is jailed without bond. It’s not known if he has an attorney.

Duarte-Cruz is accused of kidnapping a 20-year-old woman from a home on Thursday. The sheriff’s office said Duarte-Cruz and the woman were in a relationship, and that eyewitnesses told deputies that a man dragged a woman through the yard and into a car before driving away.

The sheriff’s office says the victim is back at home and safe.
