PHOENIX (AP) - A court ruling says Arizona law permits more than one relative of a dead or incapacitated crime victim to be named as a victim representative and granted rights and protections under Arizona’s Victims’ Bill of Rights.

The state Court of Appeals ruled Thursday in a Coconino County case in which Jason Conlee was accused of killing 6-year-old Jason Hester in Ash Fork in 2015.

The trial judge had ruled that only one person could be designated as a representative of the deceased and that a sibling of the boy couldn’t be designated because someone else had already been designated.
