SEATTLE (AP) - A 56-year-old man has been charged with assault after prosecutors say he stabbed another man for taking his seat while he sang karaoke at a Seattle bar.

SeattlePI.com reports Joshua Schroeter was charged with second-degree assault Wednesday in the alleged Sept. 29 incident at the Red Onion tavern in the Madison Park neighborhood.

Police say the victim told them he was seated next to a friend when a man later identified as Schroeter sat down next to him and told him he had to move.

Police say the man refused to change seats, prompting back-and-forth shoving which ended in a stabbing that punctured the man’s lung.

Police say Schroeter told them the man assaulted him and that he defended himself.

He’s been released from jail on bail. It wasn’t immediately known if Schroeter has an attorney.
