NEW ORLEANS — Entering Monday’s game against the Washington Redskins, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees needed 201 yards to become the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards.
He did it before the first half was over.
Brees hit receiver Tre’Quan Smith for a wide-open 62-yard touchdown to break Peyton Manning’s record of 71,740 yards. The Saints quarterback is 13-of-15 for 228 yards and the Saints lead the Redskins 26-6 in a blowout.

After the record was broken, the Superdome crowd erupted and the game was stopped so Brees could greet his teammates and family.
At the two-minute mark, the Saints unveiled a congratulatory video from Manning, as well.
