FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - A federal judge has ordered the former president of a private Christian college in northwest Arkansas and a political consultant to report to prison next week following their convictions on public corruption charges.
U.S. District Judge Timothy Brooks issued the order on Friday after rejecting requests by former Ecclesia College President Oren Paris and political consultant Randell Shelton to remain free while they appeal their convictions.
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that the two men were accused of funneling cash bribes to then-state Sen. Jon Woods in exchange for Woods’ directing more than $715,000 in state grants to Ecclesia.

Shelton was sentenced to six years in a federal prison, and Paris received a three-year prison sentence. Woods started serving his federal prison sentence of 18 years and four months last month.
