EAST RUTHERFORD — Fueled by an efficient five-minute drive, the Redskins hold a 7-3 lead at halftime in Sunday’s game against the New York Giants.

In the first quarter, the Redskins marched 78 yards on 10 plays to take a 7-0 lead. Washington scored when quarterback Alex Smith found running back Adrian Peterson on a check down pass that resulted in a seven-yard touchdown.

The Giants later got on the board with 1:19 left in the half after kicker Aldrick Rosas hit a 37-yard field goal.

The Redskins have failed to capitalize on most of their drives. Kicker Dustin Hopkins missed a 41-yard attempt in the second.

Redskins defensive end Matt Ioannidis has two sacks.

Smith is 12-of-15 for 93 yards and a touchdown.
