BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. (AP) - A jury has found a New York man not guilty of attempted murder in connection with a shooting that left another man partially paralyzed.
The jury’s verdict Monday provided minor relief for 25-year-old Joey Castro, as jurors found him guilty of assault and weapons charges that carry a maximum sentence of 25 years in state prison.
Prosecutors said Castro shot Michael Desnoyers in October 2017 after getting angry during a gathering at Desnoyers’ home in Moreau (maw-ROH’).

Desnoyers previously testified Castro smiled before pulling the trigger.
Castro’s attorney argued his client may have been mistaken for his twin brother. The attorney could not be reached for comment.
Castro is being held without bail pending his sentencing scheduled Dec. 17.
