MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) - A 19-year-old man who pepper-sprayed two people in a Missoula convenience before they were shot has been given a deferred sentence for his role in the armed robbery.

The Missoulian reports Ivory Brien received a total sentence of 10 years, all deferred, on Monday for his involvement in the double shooting earlier this year.

Prosecutors say the two victims were shot by Chase Munson before he and Brien fled.

Both victims survived.

Brien pleaded guilty in August to one felony count of conspiracy to robbery and two misdemeanor assault charges.

Brien’s lawyer, Thane Johnson, said in a memo that the former University of Montana student did not know that Munson was armed with a gun during the robbery.

Johnson says Brien later turn himself into authorities.

Munson pleaded not guilty in May.

His trial has been delayed.
