MCCOMB, Miss. (AP) - It’s a jailbreak of a different kind. Authorities say someone on the outside has been cutting into a security fence around the jail in one Mississippi County.
The Enterprise-Journal reports it appears to be an effort to drop off banned items for inmates.
The chief deputy for the Pike County Sheriff’s Department, Johnny Scott, tells county supervisors it cost $1,400 to repair the fence, and then somebody cut it again. Scott says there are security cameras, but not in the area where the break-ins are happening.

A hole was melted in an acrylic glass window in the jail, apparently after inmates started a fire using batteries. Jailers found contraband cellphones and speculated the trespasser dropped the phones under the window and inmates fished them up through the hole.
