CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A Wyoming businessman is standing trial again on a third-degree sexual assault charge.
KTWO-AM in Casper reports that Tony Cercy’s second trial on Friday is being held at the Hot Springs County Courthouse in Thermopolis.
Earlier this year, Cercy was acquitted of first- and second-degree sexual assault of a 20-year-old woman at his former home at Alcova lake in June 2017. However, the jury in the first trial deadlocked on the third-degree sexual assault charge, and Natrona County District Court Judge Daniel Forgey declared a mistrial.
Cercy and his defense team asked that the new trial be move away from Casper because of the pervasive media coverage from the first trial.
