BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - A coroner’s jury has found that five Billings officers were justified in the deadly shooting of a Montana man last year.
The Billings Gazette reports the seven-member jury announced the verdict Thursday in the death of 24-year-old Preston David Bell in November 2017.
Bell was shot after leading police on a chase in a Ford F-350.

Officers testified that Bell had backed the truck into a police car and another parked car, and then drove toward officers.
Officers opened fire, shooting 74 rounds. Bell’s autopsy recorded 17 bullet wounds.
Montana law requires such hearings when a person dies in police custody or in an officer-involved shooting.
