EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Rhode Island family has been displaced from their home by an early morning fire.
Authorities say firefighters responded to the East Providence home at about 2 a.m. Friday when temperatures were in the teens.
Chief Oscar Elmasian says three residents of the home and their holiday guests were displaced. The Red Cross is helping the residents with housing and shelter while they’re displaced. Elmasian says the cold made his firefighters’ task more difficult.
No injuries were reported.
Investigators say the fire caused about $10,000 worth of damage and the home is uninhabitable.
There were no reports of injuries and the cause remains under investigation.
