Griffis joined the court in 2003 after winning election in District 3. Waller says he chose Griffis because he’s experienced and because he has supported the improvement of the judiciary.
The Court of Appeals hears cases assigned by that high court. Judges hear arguments in three-judge panels, but with all 10 judges voting on decisions. Griffis was earlier named a presiding judge, which means he leads panels during oral arguments and internal discussion of cases.
