HAMPTON, Va. (AP) - Authorities say human remains have been unearthed at a construction site in Virginia.
The Daily Press cites a Hampton police release from Tuesday that says the skeletal remains were excavated at the site of a former nursing home, where a developer is now building single-family homes.
The release says an anthropologist with the Richmond Medical Examiner’s office determined the remains “appear to be historical.” The State Historical Archaeologist Department is handling the investigation as a State Historical Preservation case.
