FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) - Sheriff’s deputies shot a suspect who fled a traffic stop in Florida.
Lee County Sheriff’s Sgt. Anita Iriarte said during a news conference that deputies stopped the vehicle carrying multiple passengers around 9:45 p.m. Monday.
She says one of the occupants ran and deputies found him a short time later at a nearby Howard Johnson Inn. At that point, the suspect “brandished a firearm.” Iriarte says deputies made numerous demands for the man to drop the weapon. He pointed the gun at them and they fired.
