BALTIMORE (AP) - The second of two lawyers seeking to unseat Baltimore State Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby has been cleared to run in the election following a complaint that he’s not lived in the city long enough to qualify.
The Baltimore Sun reports Circuit Judge Lawrence Fletcher-Hill ruled Friday that Ivan Bates has lived in Baltimore for the requisite two years. Fletcher-Hill’s decision came days after he threw out a similar challenge to the candidacy of Mosby’s other challenger, Thiru Vignarajah.
Bates called the lawsuit “political theater” orchestrated by Vignarajah.

Both men faced citizen complaints accusing them of maintaining primary residences outside Baltimore.
Friday’s ruling sets up a three-way race for the city’s top prosecutorial office. The race will be decided by the June 26 primary, as all contenders are Democrats.
