PHOENIX (AP) - U.S. Census Bureau data shows that central Arizona has the fastest-growing county in the nation.

According to new data released Thursday, Maricopa County’s population increased by 1.7 percent after gaining nearly 74,000 new residents.

Maricopa County continues to be the fourth most populous county in country with more than 4,000,000 residents.



It includes cities such as Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa and Buckeye.

Clark County in southern Nevada had the second largest population gain with more than 47,000 new residents.

The new data only includes population estimates as of July 1, 2017.
