As Robert Mueller continues his special counsel investigation to nowhere, at least one government watchdog group is keeping up the pressure on Hillary Clinton.
“After uncovering the Clinton email scandal,” Judicial Watch’s president, Tom Fitton, said in a written release, “[we] now want a full accounting of the Hillary Clinton emails found on Anthony Weiner’s laptop.”
Weiner, the disgraced congressman from New York who couldn’t stop the sexting — despite being caught — had his laptop confiscated and searched by the FBI, in order to root out anything related to the Clinton email server scandal. That was less than two weeks before the election; the FBI obtained a warrant and executed it, to the great dismay of Democrats.
Any-hoo — because of Judicial Watch’s Freedom of Information Act request for “all emails of official State Department business received or sent by former Deputy Chief of Staff Huma Abedin from January 1, 2009, through February 1, 2013, using a non-‘state.gov’ email address,” America learned of a number of classified documents that were stored on Weiner’s laptop.
And since Abedin served as Clinton’s right-hand woman, not to mention her best friend, Judicial Watch now wants to see what emails from the former secretary of state are on Weiner’s computer.
The watchdog said it knows, given the contents of a January FOIA fulfillment from the State Department, that at least “18 classified emails in a total of 798 documents … “from the FBI’s investigation into [Clinton’s] illicit email system were found” on Weiner’s laptop.
These were communications between Clinton about Saudia Arabia, Egypt, South Africa, the war in Syria, Hamas, the PLO, and so on — oh, and about the “identity of a CIA official,” the watchdog said.
Seems significant. And national security challenged.
“We’ve confirmed classified Clinton emails on the Weiner laptop,” Fitton said, “which would have been enough to get anyone else arrested.”
That’s a good point.
Anyone else, as a matter of fact, who was deemed by the FBI to have mishandled classified and sensitive government information — as Clinton was by former FBI lead guy James B. Comey — would indeed have been arrested and imprisoned.
Let’s see the emails to and from Clinton on Weiner’s laptop now — all the emails.
The Russia-President Donald Trump collusion-obstruction of justice hunt can wait.
