PANGBURN, Ark. (AP) - A great horned owl that was injured in a mudslide in central Arkansas in February will be released back into the wild this week.
An Arkansas Game and Fish Commission warden rescued the owl from a field near Pangburn, about 55 miles northeast of Little Rock, once floodwaters receded from the mudslide.
The Daily Citizen reports that the owl was injured in the mudslide, then developed an infection afterward. The bird has been at Raptor Rehab of Central Arkansas ever since.
A release party is planned for Thursday at the Pangburn Public Library.
