Most Americans associate intelligence and strength with President Trump but not likability or trustworthiness, according to a Gallup poll released Monday.

At least half of Americans surveyed said Mr. Trump is a “strong and decisive leader” who is capable of accomplishing changes the U.S. needs. A majority — 58 percent — viewed him as intelligent.

However, the president did not fare well when it came to matters of personality. A large majority — over 60 percent — disagreed he was honest, likable or a person to admire.

Those surveyed also disapproved of some of Mr. Trump’s administrative decisions. Sixty-four percent did not agree that the president chose “mostly good” officials or advisers, and 67 percent said he does not work well with either party.

The poll was conducted from June 1-13, the weeks leading up to and encompassing the North Korean summit.
