VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) - An audit has found that staff overtime and operating costs have increased at a juvenile detention facility in southwest Washington while the number of detainees has decreased.

The Columbian reports the performance audit conducted by the Clark County Auditor’s Office found that management of the county facility didn’t consistently collect and use data to determine staffing between 2013 and 2015.

According to the audit presented to a county committee Tuesday, the annual use of overtime hours increased from about 3,000 in 2007 to about 10,000 in 2015. The average number of detainees decreased from 58 to 21 during the same period.
