MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a New Jersey man has been convicted of first-degree murder in the strangulation death of a woman who prosecutors say spurned his romantic overtures.
The Burlington County prosecutor’s office says 54-year-old William Gennett was also convicted Wednesday of fourth-degree stalking.
Authorities say the Tabernacle resident and 45-year-old Shannon O’Rourke were friends but Gennett was using a cellphone app that allowed him to track her whereabouts without her knowledge.

Prosecutors argued during trial that Gennett killed the victim in July 2016 in her Lumberton home when she rejected his attempts to turn their friendship into a romantic relationship.
Gennett is to be sentenced Aug. 16.
