NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) - Authorities say a suspected drunken driver assaulted a Massachusetts State Police trooper.
Police say Trooper Joshua Pacheco was in New Bedford early Saturday when he saw a car driving erratically.
Police say the car sped down the street and pulled into a driveway. Officials say as Pacheco was trying to talk to the driver, the man got out of the car and lunged at the trooper.

Police say Pacheco was able to take the driver into custody after a “significant struggle with the resistant and combative man.”
Police identified the driver as 37-year-old Diego Tiniguar Panjoj. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and it wasn’t immediately clear Saturday if he has a lawyer.
The trooper wasn’t injured. Panjoj has been charged with assault on a police officer and other offenses.
