Barry Trotz is going to coach the New York Islanders. Or he’s definitely being hired by the expansion team in Seattle. Or maybe he’s just on his way to vacation.
Whatever the case is — Trotz was spotted in the Newark and Seattle airports after the former Capitals coach abruptly resigned Monday, less than two weeks since winning the Stanley Cup.

Just met Barry Trotz at EWR and pleaded with the now ex-coach of #StanleyCup @Capitals to just please don’t go to an Eastern Conference team #ALLCAPS pic.twitter.com/JmvQ9MPZl5

Trotz stepped down when he and the Capitals couldn’t agree on a long-term contract extension.
The Islanders are the only team in the NHL with a coaching vacancy, while Seattle still needs league approval for expansion.
