The Colonial Athletic Association’s men’s basketball tournament is expected to be held at the St. Elizabeths East Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington starting in 2020, the Charleston Post and Courier reported Sunday.
The building is the future home of the Washington Mystics and the Washington Wizards’ new NBA G League team, the Capital City Go-Go.
The CAA Tournament has been played in Charleston, South Carolina, the past two years. The conference’s 10 member schools range from Charleston to Boston, and although none are based in Washington city limits, James Madison University, the College of William & Mary, Towson University and the University of Delaware are all reasonably nearby.
The arena in southeast Washington is expected to open in September. The Mystics will begin to play there in 2019.
