ASHBURN — Brian Lafemina, Washington Redskins president of business operations and COO, said Wednesday fans will no longer have to join a waiting list to purchase season tickets.

In the past, the decades-old model drew criticism from others as more of a marketing gimmick than an actual wait list. But Lafemina said the Redskins are abandoning the method.

“We want to grab back our home-field advantage,” Lafemina said. “We want to have the best home-field advantage in the National Football League. And what that means is having Redskins fans, rabid Redskins fans sitting at FedEx Field every single week.”

Fans on the waiting list will now receive an offer to purchase season tickets, Lafemina said.

The Redskins also introduced a series of “enhancements” for season ticket members in order to entice sales, including cheaper food concessions and free subscriptions to NFL RedZone and Game Pass.

Alcohol will not be discounted, Lafemina said.
